Who is responsible

Kixrate is an independent football publication operated by its founder, Jay. Kixrate is the controller of personal information handled through this website. Privacy questions can be sent through the contact page.

Website visitors and enquiries

The public website does not currently accept newsletter sign-ups or account registrations. If you contact Kixrate, we may receive your name, email address and the information you choose to send.

Our hosting and content-delivery providers may process basic technical information needed to serve and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time, and security logs.

Editorial and published information

For reporting, analysis and other journalistic work, Kixrate may research and use information about people connected with football or a matter of public interest. This may come from public records, official statements, approved sources, interviews, correspondence, social platforms or material supplied directly to Kixrate.

Editorial information is used to verify facts, assess stories, maintain appropriate records and publish journalism. Kixrate aims to distinguish fact from opinion, use personal information proportionately and correct material inaccuracies.

Purposes and legal bases

We use information to operate and secure Kixrate, diagnose faults, respond to enquiries, consider corrections and meet legal obligations. These uses rely on Kixrate’s legitimate interests in running a safe publication and communicating with readers, or on a legal obligation where one applies.

Editorial processing may rely on legitimate interests and the freedom of expression and information. Where UK law provides a specific exemption for journalism and its statutory tests are met, Kixrate may apply it on a case-by-case basis. It is not treated as a blanket exemption from responsible data handling.

Providers and international transfers

Kixrate uses Vercel for website hosting and Sanity for content management and media delivery. Those providers may process limited technical information on Kixrate’s behalf and may use infrastructure outside the UK. Where required, transfers are covered by recognised contractual or other legal safeguards.

Cookies and measurement

The public Kixrate site does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. The private publishing studio may use essential authentication technology for authorised editors. This notice will be updated before any public analytics or newsletter service is introduced.

Retention and your rights

Correspondence and technical records are kept only for as long as they are reasonably needed for the purpose they were collected, including security, corrections and legal record-keeping, then deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

Editorial research may be retained for longer where it remains necessary to support published work, demonstrate accuracy, protect confidential sources, handle complaints or defend legal claims.

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your personal information, object to processing, or receive a portable copy. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Some rights may be limited where a valid journalism exemption, source-protection duty or other legal restriction applies. Kixrate will explain the position when it can lawfully do so.
